What doomed them in the playoffs?
Offense went cold at the wrong time. This matchup against the Ravens was perfect in a football sense. Two teams who do not like each other and we got to see a great offense matchup against a great defense.
On this day, the great defense in Baltimore came away with the bragging rights and the victory. For the Titans, they were stagnant against a tough unit. They only picked up 12 first downs in the game and had a stretch in which they punted 4 times in 5 drives.
The game was still within reach with under 4 minutes left as the Titans were down 20-13. A rare Ryan Tannehill interception would stop the Titans in their tracks and effectively end their season.
Story of the season: Offense emerges among the elite in the NFL
Despite the rough playoff performance, the Titans firmly established their offense as one of the premiere units in the NFL. They finished with the 2nd most total yards and the 4th most total points.
There is little left to debate as to where the best running back in the NFL resides. Derrick Henry has led the NFL in carries, rushing yards, and rushing touchdowns in the 2019 and 2020 seasons. He is an old school back who bullies defenses with physicality and explosiveness.
Tennessee is also the home of A.J. Brown, who has recorded 1000+ yards in his first two seasons. He has done this despite not starting a full 16 game slate in either year.
This Tennessee offense is capable of leading this team far into the playoffs. They have played 4 playoff games since the start of 2020 and can thank the three headed monster of Tannehill, Brown, and Henry.
